Founded in 2003, we are a specialist capital raising firm focused on identifying the highest quality investment strategies for institutional investors.

Campion Capital is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority in the UK (#230196),
FINRA (brokercheck.finra.org) in the United States (W Campion Capital LLC, CRD#: 171277)
and the South African Financial Services Board (#44722).

About Us

Campion Capital is a private company, wholly owned by the directors and staff, with offices in the United Kingdom and the United States.

The team is comprised of ten people with a wealth of experience in investment management, wealth management and capital raising.

Since inception, the company has raised over US$ 7.5 billion for traditional and alternative investment funds.

We work closely with a range of institutional investors including pension funds, university endowments, family offices and wealth managers in Europe, the United States, South Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.

What we do

  • Our primary focus is to identify the highest quality investment funds for institutional investors
  • We partner with a small handful of asset managers and act as distribution partners
  • We are remunerated by the asset managers on a success only basis
  • We work in both the public and private markets
  • We work with both conventional ‘long only’ as well as alternative/long short/hedge fund managers

What we don't do

  • We do not manage any money ourselves – we are distributors/Third Party Fund Marketers
  • We do not run a fund of funds or a fund of hedge funds
  • We are not a wealth manager
  • We do not buy individual securities
  • We do not market funds to private individuals

Delivering Value

Our objective is to provide investors with a valuable source of investment ideas by leveraging our presence and local expertise in Europe and the US where we dedicate significant resources to research.

We work exclusively with institutional investors and take substantial time to understand their demands and requirements. Our network of over 1,000 institutional investors in Europe, the United States, South Africa, Asia, and the Middle East, provides us with a detailed understanding of investment flows and trends and allows our research to be conducted with a focus on the most valuable investment opportunities.

Our charging structure is designed to align our interests with those of investors; We do not charge retainer fees and we are only paid by investment managers on success. This enables us to focus on identifying strategies that will be of most value to investors as opposed to focusing on arranging unnecessary meetings to meet minimum thresholds set in retainer contracts.

Investment Philosophy

We believe owner-operated businesses with depth of research, a well defined investment process, mindful of capacity and discipline in execution are best positioned to succeed over the long-term

Research Process

We employ a methodical and detailed investment process to help us identify high quality investment managers that are able to excel within their respective fields. Above all we will only partner with people that have a deep sense for integrity and with a clear passion for investing.

Our process begins by understanding the investment strategies that investors have the highest demand for and most difficulty in finding.

We subscribe to a number of databases to facilitate the initial screening process. However, our most valuable ideas are typically sourced from our network of industry contacts.

Once a number of prospects have been identified our research team focuses on a number of qualitative factors that we believe drive performance over the long-term.

Qualitative factors we seek:

  • A sensible and explainable investment philosophy
  • A detailed and methodical investment process; depth of research
  • Proof of discipline in execution; attention to capacity constraints and institutional quality operations.
  • Skin in the game- we only work with managers that have a significant proportion of their wealth invested in the strategy we want to distribute

Once a shortlist of investment firms has been identified, extensive due diligence is carried out on the firm and key individuals.

The investment committee, which is made up of three senior partners, must decide unanimously whether to approve a manager.
